Description
Brook House is a building that originally served as a medieval hall house with two bays, featuring alterations and additions from the 16th and 17th centuries. It has cross wings at both the east and west ends. The west wing showcases a jettied upper storey supported by exposed joists at the north end, while the south end includes an addition from the 18th or 19th century. The house is two storeys tall, with most windows being 20th-century casements, although several original windows with diamond mullions remain, including a notable large window on the north side that has five mullions. The roofs are tiled, featuring a cruciform shafted chimney stack with oversailing caps on a square base. Both wings have gambrel roofs, and there is one gabled dormer on the front. Inside, the building displays exposed timber-framing, ceiling beams, and joists.
