Description
The Elms is a 17th-century farmhouse located in Loddon Stubbs Green. The building is plastered and partially faced in painted brick, featuring a steep roof covered with black glazed pantiles. One end of the roof is gabled while the other is hipped. The farmhouse has two storeys and attics, with two large old three-light casement windows. There are two later brick porches that have modillion cornices. At the south end, there is a notable brick chimney stack with five diagonally set shafts, along with a large outbuilt brick chimney stack at the rear (east). The south end also includes a lower 17th-century timber-framed wing that is faced in painted brick, featuring a steep pantile roof with a coped gable end and one four-light casement window. At the rear (west), there is an 18th-century painted brick wing that is two storeys high, has a hipped pantile roof, and brick dentil eaves.
