Description
Bretts Manor is a late 14th century to early 15th century "Wealden" house featuring an open hall that is not floored, with a queen post roof supported by arched braces. The house has two storeyed bays at each end and is constructed with a plastered timber frame. It has a hipped thatched roof and a central hall that includes a large six-light mullion window. Each end of the house has two storeys with small three- and four-light mullion windows, which are replicas of the originals, except for one original four-light mullion window located at the rear. There is a doorway on the right side of the hall leading to a screens passage, which has a modern oak door and arch.
Inside, the original screen has been removed, but there are two shouldered arch doorways in the screens passage leading to the service room and the room above. There is a later lean-to structure on the west end and a large modern one-storey flat-roofed wing at the rear of the house.
