Description
Lilac Farmhouse, located on Seamere Road, is a 17th-century house. It features a timber frame construction with roughcast on the east half and weatherboarding on the west half. The roof is covered with black glazed pantiles and has gable ends. The house is two storeys high, with the west end originally serving as an open hall and believed to have been a Quaker Meeting House. At the time of the survey in 1976, it was undergoing renovation.
The first floor has three new two-light casement windows with glazing bars. On the ground floor, there is a large three-light casement window on the right and a four-light French window on the left, both also with glazing bars. The central entrance features a vertical boarded door. A large brick chimney stack, rendered on the east end, is present, along with a later outshut at the rear. The interior showcases exposed timber framing and chamfered beams, with the west end maintaining its open hall design.
