Description

The Caulking House and Counting House are likely 17th or 18th century, although they have been significantly altered and converted into two dwellings from their original use as outbuildings, reputedly including a counting house. The buildings form a long range, situated parallel and close to The Friary. They are constructed of flint and brick, with a steep pantile roof, and the north end is hipped. The centre portion features an additional storey created by raising the eaves. The windows are modern casements, mostly set within new brick surrounds. Modern glazed doors provide access—a first-floor entrance for the Caulking House, accessed by modern wrought iron stairs. The Counting House has modern garage doors leading to a basement. The buildings are included in the listing due to their group value.
