Description
Old Hall Farmhouse is a farmhouse with origins dating back to the late 16th century, which has been altered in the early 19th century and late 20th century. It is constructed of flint with brick dressings and features a roof made of black glazed and red pantiles. The building has a double pile plan and a facade that is two storeys high with three bays.
The central feature of the facade is a 20th-century gabled brick porch, which is accessed through a four-centred arch. On either side of the porch, there is one sash window, and on the first floor, there are three sash windows, all from the 20th century and set under four-centred painted brick arches. The facade is finished with brick quoins and a brick eaves course, topped by a gabled roof. There is a partly external stack at the north end and an internal stack on the south side.
The south side of the farmhouse includes a two-storey bowed extension added in the 1950s. The rear range features brickwork from the 16th century, which has since been altered. There is a three-light staircase window under a four-centred arch, adorned with Gothic cusped tracery, while the other windows are casements from the 18th and 20th centuries.
Inside, the farmhouse boasts an open well staircase with turned balusters, a moulded handrail, closed strings, and square newels. The roof structure consists of two tiers of taper-tenoned butt purlins and collars that are jointed into the principals.
