Description
Two barns and a stable range located to the north of Houghton Farmhouse date from the late 18th century or early 19th century. They are constructed with flint and brick rubble dressings and feature a red pantiled roof. The barns consist of a pair of three-steaded structures under a single roof. The eastern barn has a central cart entrance and an off-centre projection for a north cart shed. The western barn features central cart doors aligned on the north and south sides. The brick dressings include details around the doors, ventilation slits, and eaves cornices, with hipped roof gables. The west gable is notable for its re-used stone quoins. Inside, the barn roofs are supported by tie-beams, collars, and some wind braces. To the south-west, there is a two-storey stable range. This group is included for its collective historical value.
