Description

The Obelisk is a look-out tower, likely built in the late 18th century. It is constructed from brick, rendered brick, and flint, with a roof of plain tiles. The base features a square brick plinth with flint quoins designed to mimic vermiculation. Above this, there is a broach roof made of plain tiles covering the rendered brick column. The column has round openings, and the top now only supports an iron platform. Inside, there are stairs leading to the top. An 1818 account of excursions through Norfolk describes it as a tower that had a tea room at the top. The Obelisk is also depicted on Faden's map of Norfolk from 1797.
