Description
Crostwight Hall is a ruined hall house dating to the mid-16th century, with later alterations. It is constructed of flint with brick dressings. The building is arranged around an E-plan, with the south and east walls being the most substantial surviving elements. A two-storey central porch is situated within the south facade, flanked by cross wings. The porch features a four-centred arched entrance made of ashlar, with two orders of shafts on high polygonal bases and moulded capitals. The inner door has wave mouldings. Two windows are blocked to the left of the porch, and a later block constructed of flint and yellow brick dressings is attached to the right. The gabled cross wings survive to the eaves line, with ashlar quoins present. The east wall of the east cross wing retains glazing bars from two upper windows, indicating that the original fenestration featured timber cross casements. Numerous remains of fireplaces and doorways are visible.
