Description
Cromer Lodge is a mid-19th century lodge cottage associated with Barningham Hall. It is constructed of brick and features a thatched roof. The building is single storey and consists of two bays, with an additional single storey range at the rear. The central entrance is located beneath a gabled porch, which has a brick base and a roof made of plain and fish scale tiles, adorned with fretwork barge boards supported by wooden posts. On either side of the entrance are 20th-century three-light casement windows with glazing bars.
The lodge has a central axial stack with two octagonal shafts that are decorated with spiral and nail head moulded brickwork, topped with oversailing caps. The south gable displays fretwork barge boards and features a polygonal bay window with a nipped roof made of plain and patterned tiles, complete with a finial. The lower rear range includes a central axial stack with a pair of plain octagonal shafts. The south gable has a square bay window and a hipped roof covered in pantiles. The north gable is notable for displaying the Mott achievement and the initials ITM, representing John Thomas Mott, who lived from 1809 to 1884.
