Description

The Church of St Margaret is a church built in 1862, designed by architect W Lightley. It features flint construction with stone dressings and has slated roofs. The building is in the High Victorian "Early Gothic" style, comprising a nave, chancel, and an unfinished north-west tower. The west gable has an arch filled with stone that is battered at the base, with a central cinquefoil and seven roundels. The north side of the nave has single and paired lancet windows, while the south side has two paired lancets. There are buttresses with set-offs and original cast-iron downpipes. The chancel includes single lancets on the north and south sides, along with triple lancets on the east. The south buttresses feature a stone-pipe in stone and cast-iron downpipes.

Inside, the nave has a roof of four bays supported by a tie beam, king post, arched braces, and a collar. The chancel roof is adorned with closely set arched braces. There is a stone font with an inscription and wooden chancel stalls that are stylistically from 1862. The nave contains three re-used 18th-century wall tablets, while the chancel features stained lancets by Mayer and Company from Munich and London, dating to the late 19th century.
