Description
The Market Cross in Castle Rising is a 15th-century structure made of Barnack limestone. It stands approximately 7 meters high and features five tall steps topped with green sandstone. The cross has an octagonal plinth that is about 6 meters high, with clasping polygonal shafts at its corners. Above this, there is a low square base that supports a square block also around 6 meters high, which has attached shafts at the angles. The slender tapering shaft rises to a cross at the top. This cross is recognized as a Scheduled Ancient Monument in Norfolk, numbered 188.
