Description
Nos. 5 and 6 Church Lane are two houses dating from the mid-18th century. They are constructed of gault brick and feature a machine tile roof. The buildings are two storeys high with a dormer attic. On the left side, there is a plank door that leads to a passage at the rear. To the right, there is a panelled entrance door for No. 5, and to the extreme right, a panelled door for No. 6. Between these doors are two horned sash windows set beneath segmental gauged skewback arches with exaggerated cambers. The first floor has three horned sash windows and two blind windows located in bays two and five. The mansard roof is punctuated by three flush dormers on the front slope, and there is a ridge stack positioned left of centre. The north return is rendered, and the rear roof slope has been extended over an outshut.
