Description
Denton Lodge is a house built in the late 18th century. It features a colourwashed brick facade and a flint rear, topped with a slate and plaintile roof. The building is two storeys high and has three bays, with the central bay projecting forward under a pediment adorned with dentils. The entrance includes a panelled central door flanked by pilasters that support an open pediment, which also has dentils, and a plain fanlight above. On either side of the door are French doors with glazing bars. The first floor has two sash windows with glazing bars, all set beneath gauged skewback arches. Above the door, there is a wall sundial marked with foreign sea ports. The building has a dentil eaves cornice beneath a Mansard roof, with a central ridge stack and an external gable stack on the left side. To the left of the main house, there is a two-storey extension added in 1939. Inside, there is an open cut staircase with a ramped handrail, and the stairwell is illuminated by a glazed dome with a fluted lower edge.
