Description
No. 19 Tuesday Market Place is a house that has been converted into offices. It dates from the late 18th century and features an earlier rear wing. The facade is made of gault brick with accents of brown and red brick, topped with a machine tile roof. The two-storey facade has seven bays, with a panelled and fielded door located in the third bay from the left, set within panelled reveals. The doorcase is supported by fluted engaged Roman Doric columns and features a metope frieze and an open pediment. The windows are sash style with glazing bars and are topped with gauged skewback arches. A timber eaves cornice runs below the gabled roof. There are two chimney stacks, one at the internal gable end to the south and another ridge stack to the right of centre, both from the 19th century and corbelled. The mid-18th century rear cross wing extends east from the north end of the house and consists of two sections with different roof lines, both two storeys high and featuring mixed fenestration. Inside, there is a late 18th century cantilevered staircase in an oval well, with two stick balusters per tread, each enriched by a roll on the edges. The handrail is ramped and wreathed, and a domed skylight illuminates the well.
