Description

The ruins of a doorway, likely dating from the 15th century, stand on the south side of St Nicholas Street in King's Lynn. Constructed of brick with ashlar dressings, the doorway features a blocked stone double arch with deeply undercut, hollow-chamfered pointed reveals. Flint fills the spandrels. At the rear, two late 20th-century brick walls have been built, converting the area into a refuse storage bay. The original timber-framed house to which the doorway belonged collapsed in 1952.
