Description
The Old Rectory is a house that underwent 18th century remodelling of a 17th century structure. It is built of red brick, with the east gable tarred, and features a pantiled roof. The building has two storeys and a part-cellar. The main facade consists of four bays, with sash windows that have glazing bars and architraves. There is an off-centre entrance that is sheltered by a later porch, which has an embattled parapet and a moulded brick drip over the doorway. A 20th century door leads to the porch roof from the first floor. The eaves are decorated with a brick dentil course. The chimney stacks are cable-style with octagonal brick shafts; the east gable stack is external and has twin shafts. There is a large off-centre stack aligned with the entrance, featuring staged octagonal shafts on a square base. A later one-storey wing is located on the west side, which has a crow-stepped gable and a capped-off chimney stack. The gables have window openings, and there are some 20th century casements in the north wall. Additionally, there is a catslide extension on the north side.
