Description
The remains of the Priory of St Sepulchre are located on the north side of Brandon Road in Thetford. Founded before 1148 by William de Warenne, the 3rd Earl of Surrey, the priory was dissolved in 1536, after which the church was converted into a barn. The structure is built of flint with some ashlar dressings, but it currently has no roof. The remains consist of the nave of the church, with openings that have been blocked. There are central 18th-century four-centred barn doors that were originally opened in the middle of the north and south walls, but these have since been blocked again. A doorway at the north-west corner features wave mouldings on the stilted arch and dates back to the early 14th century; this doorway led to the cloister walk on the north side.
