Description
The gate pier, gates, flanking walls, and railings located about 500 metres west of Old Buckenham Hall in the parish of Old Buckenham were built around 1911, possibly by the architect Detmar Blow, who also rebuilt Old Buckenham Hall in the same year. The gate-piers are large and made of red brick, square in shape with rebated corners, standing on moulded stone bases and topped with moulded stone caps and ball finials. The entrance features wrought iron double gates with decorative scrollwork leading to the carriageway. On either side of the gates are low brick walls topped with railings, along with smaller flanking piers. Old Buckenham Hall was previously owned by HH Prince Frederick Duleep Singh and was purchased in 1911 by L. Robinson, who had the house redesigned by Detmar Blow. The hall was largely destroyed by fire in 1952.
