Description
The Baptist Chapel, located on Tilehouse Street, was built in 1838 in a Neoclassical style. It replaced an earlier building dating from 1669. The front elevation is stuccoed, while the rear and side elevations are constructed of grey brick. The prominent front façade features a monumental tetrastyle pseudo-portico with attached columns, topped by three round-headed doorways and three tall windows. These are set within architrave surrounds featuring friezes and cornices. The chapel forms a group with a nearby gateway.
