Description
No. 4 Baldock Street is an early to mid 19th-century former workhouse built in a Neo-classical style. The building is constructed of gault brick and features a hipped roof covered with Welsh slate, along with a cornice. It stands three storeys tall, with a stone band at the first floor. The upper floors have a central recess and a symmetrical arrangement of sash windows, with two windows on the outer sides and one in the middle on each floor. The ground floor has architrave surrounds, the first floor has cornices supported by consoles, and the second floor features flat arches. A central portico, supported by Doric pilasters, includes an entablature and a blocking course. On the east side, there are two ground floor canted bay windows, each with entablatures resting on slim Doric pilasters. Inside, the hall is marked by two segmental arches.
