Description
Oak House is a late 18th-century building located on the south side of Whitehorse Street. It is constructed of chequered blue and red brick, with red brick dressing. The house features a hipped tiled roof that is set behind a panelled parapet and a brick moulded cornice. It has two storeys and five sash windows with glazing bars, which are set in shallow reveals beneath flat arches. The building includes a plinth and angle pilasters. The central entrance consists of an eight-fielded panelled door topped with a fanlight that has glazing bars, all accessed by three stone steps. To the right, there is a 19th-century shop front. Oak House is part of a group that includes Nos 2 to 20 (even), 20A, 20B, 22, 22A, 24, to 32 (even), and 40 to 44 (even).
