Description

This is a house, likely dating back to the 16th century, and possibly incorporating older fabric in its eastern crosswing. It is timber-framed with roughcast rendering, featuring decorative fan pargeting above a red brick sill. The steep roof is covered with old red tiles, with a front gable at the eastern part having been altered to a hip. The house originally comprised two main sections, a hall and a crosswing, both facing north and projecting with a continuous front jetty. An internal western gable chimney has replaced what was once a smoke hood, while an external brick chimney is located at the eastern end. The front façade has two windows on each floor, and a centrally positioned battened plank door leading into the eastern end of the hall. The windows are flush casements with three lights. Inside, the western section of the house features elaborately moulded chamfered beams and chamfered stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops to the joists, with a staircase likely positioned in the southwest corner, next to the original smoke hood. The beams in the eastern wing are a rougher style.
