Description
The lych gate to the Church of Holy Trinity, built around 1895, features ashlar stone and oak framing. It has a wood-shingled hipped roof with a gablet and an oak finial topped with a copper cross on a ball. The stone piers have recessed perpendicular style panels on the outer sides. The oak roof structure is supported by corbels with curved brackets, tie beams, and rafters. There are a pair of panelled oak gates with wrought-iron strap hinges and diamond mullions in the open upper panels. This lych gate was erected in memory of Robert Smith of Goldings, who died on 21 October 1894. It forms a group with the Church of Holy Trinity on New Road.
