Description

The stables and attached granary date from the early 19th century, with the tithe map of 1842 confirming their existence at that time. This symmetrical grey brick range consists of a one-story stable range with a two-story projecting brick granary at the center, facing south. The eastern stable range is part of the parish of Hunsdon and is listed separately. Red tiled hipped roofs cover both buildings.

The central granary features gauged buff brick arches above two windows on each of the ground and first floors. These windows have recessed sash windows with 15 small panes each. Double doors provide central access to a wide, steep staircase leading to the upper floor. The stable range has two boarded stable doors with fanlights containing 21 small panes, flanked by high-set sash windows with 10/10 panes. A later crosswing was added to the west, featuring a pitched roof and a hipped end to the south.

This imposing brick range contributes to a symmetrical composition and is part of a historic group including Olives Farm house, located 45 metres to the southeast.
