Description

Bentfield House is an 18th-century red brick house in Stansted Mountfitchet, originally known as Bentfield Bower. It was altered in the 19th century with the addition of an extra storey above a moulded brick dentil cornice, and later additions were made to the rear. The house has three storeys and a three-window front. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars, set in flush cased frames. A central doorway features brick pilasters and a cornice. The roof is tiled. The interior retains good original doors and sliding sash window shutters.
