Description
Scot's Farmhouse is a late 16th-century timber-framed and plastered house located at Amberden End, Debden. It features a cross wing at the north end and has undergone alterations in the late 17th and 18th centuries. The gable displays original pierced bargeboards, a pendant at the apex, and a panel with the initials I.C. above the date 1649. The building has two storeys and is fitted with casement windows. The roof is tiled and includes an original central chimney stack with four octagonal shafts. Inside, the farmhouse is said to have original plastered brick fireplaces, one of which features a plaster frieze and cornice at ceiling level, supported by pilasters on each side of the fireplace.
