Description
Pledgdon Hall is a timber-framed and plastered house, likely originally a medieval hall house situated on a moated site. The building has been altered and extended in the 17th century and later, with renovations occurring in the 20th century. At the west end, there is a cross wing featuring a jettied upper storey. The central part of the house has two small gables, and the east end projects at the front, displaying a catslide roof and a gabled dormer. The windows are iron casements with glazing bars, which are probably an early example of Crittalls manufacture. The roof is tiled. A large external chimney stack is located at the west end, while the central block has a rectangular stack. Inside, heavy close studding is exposed at the west end. Three sides of a former moat extend to the north of the house, with the building constructed on the site of the south arm.
