Description
The Church of St John the Evangelist is a small church with origins dating back to the 12th century, constructed from flint rubble. The west tower, built in the 14th century, features stone rusticated quoins and a modern tiled pyramid roof. The chancel was added around 1560 and is made of red brick, showcasing 16th-century brick mullioned windows with four-centred arches. The east window consists of three lights, while the south windows have two lights each. The church underwent restoration in 1885. Inside, the nave boasts a late 15th-century double hammer beam roof, which has been significantly restored. The south doorway dates from the mid-12th century, and there are remains of a single light window in the north wall from the same period. The roof is tiled, although the chancel roof is modern. The church is noted for its interior architectural features.
