Description

No. 40 Newbiggen Street is a 15th-century hall house featuring a gabled cross-wing at the south end. The building is constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped with a roof of red plain tiles and grey slate. It stands two storeys high and has a symmetrical arrangement of windows, with two sets of double-hung vertical sliding sashes that include glazing bars. At the south end, there is a modern bay window with a tiled roof, and the exterior has modern pargetting. Inside, the timber framing is still visible.
