Description
This is a three-storey house, built in 1863 and later used as offices. A keyblock bearing the date “TW 1863” sits above the main entrance. The house is constructed of red brick with gault brick dressings, topped with a slate roof. It has off-centre and right-end ridge stacks with cornices.
The house has four bays and features dentilled eaves, white brick quoins, and three horizontal bands of brickwork marking the floors. A projecting gabled entrance bay has bargeboards, and the entrance door is decorative, with a fanlight under a round arch featuring a moulded terracotta keyblock. Round-headed windows are located above the entrance, and also feature margin glazed sashes. A service entrance is located to the left, also with a vertically panelled door and fanlight under a round arch with a terracotta keyblock. Other windows are set within flat, gauged brick arches, with red and black brick keyblocks to the ground floor, red brick keyblocks to the first floor, and alternating red and white bricks to the second floor. All windows have sashes with margin glazing. Group Value: The building contributes to the group value of buildings along this part of Museum Street.
