Description
Horham Hall is a Grade I listed Tudor brick moated manor house located on the boundary of the Parishes of Broxted and Thaxted. It was originally built around 1470, but most of the structure, except for the south wing, was demolished in the early 16th century by Sir John Cutte, who constructed a fine brick quadrangular house on the site. Throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, various parts of the house were further demolished, including the chapel. Between 1840 and 1850, the remaining building underwent restoration. The Great Hall features a fine oriel window, and there is a staircase tower on the north side. The south wing boasts a partially exposed fine open timber ceiling. The moat surrounding the house is partly walled.
