Description

Barley Hall Cottages, now divided into four dwellings, dates back to the 16th century, with alterations in the 17th century and the 20th century. The cottages are timber-framed and have been rendered with plaster, featuring red plain tile roofs. The central range is two storeys high with attics, while the ranges to the left and right are single-storeyed with attics. The front has a two, three, and two-window arrangement. Windows are predominantly 19th-century and 20th-century casements. Three gabled dormers are visible. Small, pedimented canopies are supported by brackets over the doorways. There are two large red brick chimney stacks from the 17th century, and two smaller 19th-century chimney stacks at the ends of the building. The interior retains substantial timber framing. A small 20th-century extension has been added to the rear.
