Description

Keepers Cottage is a house dating from the mid to late 16th century. It is timber framed and plastered, featuring gabled roofs covered with peg tiles. The building has an L-shaped plan and stands two storeys high. The windows are 20th century casements with small panes. There is a large stack on the ridge line of the larger original block and a smaller stack on the north gable. A lean-to extension is present on the north face of the main block. The cottage has three bays, with the entire upper floor being one original open chamber. The floor joists and girts are moulded, although the moulding is only on one face of the joists. A short block to the north is from the 18th or 19th century and was probably not originally a dwelling.
