Description

Hempstead Hall is a late 16th-century timber-framed building, originally constructed around 1580, situated on an H-shaped plan. The building has undergone significant alterations and additions across the 19th century and later periods. The south front has been faced with brick, and the east wing has been entirely rebuilt, with a substantial addition extending from the north. The rear elevation is plastered, and an 18th-century timber-framed addition is present on the west wing. The roof is tiled and features a prominent original chimney stack positioned centrally, consisting of four octagonal shafts with moulded bases and star caps, rising from a square base with two sunk panels on each face. Inside, a large hall room displays 17th-century panelling.
