Description
The Church of St Margaret is a Grade II* listed building located on Clavering Road in Wicken Bonhunt. The chancel dates back to the 13th century and features restored lancet windows in the north and south walls, as well as in the east gable. The remainder of the church was largely rebuilt in 1858-59 in the style of the 14th century, using flint and pebble rubble with tiled roofs. The west tower is topped with a pyramid-shaped tiled roof. Inside, notable fittings include a 12th-century font and a late 17th-century wall monument on the north wall of the chancel, commemorating the Bradbury children from Brick House. Additionally, there is a sculptured wall tablet on the south wall of the chancel dedicated to 10-year-old John James Bradbury, created by H. Scheemakers. The church serves as a significant focal point for the village center and is recognized for its architectural, historical, and topographical value.
