Description
Number 1 Johnsons Yard is a house dating from around 1800, with 20th-century refurbishment. It has a timber-framed structure that is rendered, topped with a pantile roof and a red brick chimney. The building has a rectangular plan and stands two storeys tall.
The east front elevation features a single range of windows along with a doorway, all of which have been replaced in the 20th century. The windows are double casements with glazing bars, arranged in a 4x3 pane configuration. The door includes an upper section with glazing made up of 2x3 panes and a lower recessed panel. The walling displays 20th-century pargetted decoration.
On the rear west elevation, the appearance is plain. Number 1 is continuous with the rear northern wing of Number 34 Church Street, but it faces in the opposite direction.
