Description
Felsted Place is a house dating from the 17th century or earlier, with a rear wing and later additions and alterations, remodelled in 1720. The building has two storeys and attics, topped by a red plain tiled hipped gambrel roof. It features a timber frame with bullnosed red tile hung on the front and left wall, while the rest is mainly plastered with some areas of weatherboarding. The façade includes a four-window range of eight-paned sliding sashes. The central door, along with a matching door to the left wall, is panelled and has an upper light with glazing bars. Heavy pilasters and a frieze support a carved pediment held up by substantial brackets. The building also has a moulded eaves cornice. To the left, there is a very large attached rectangular red brick chimney stack, and to the right, an attached square red brick stack. The front garden is enclosed by railings with urn finials on the main posts, and a red brick wall with round-headed coping runs along both sides.
