Description
Olde Barn Cottage is a house that was originally an agricultural building, dating from the 17th century. It features English-bond brickwork, with signs of former timber-framing that has been encased. The gables are covered in white painted weatherboarding, and the gambrel roof is made of clay plain tiles. The building has one storey and attics, with 19th or early 20th century casement windows that include transoms. There is a central entrance door on the south elevation, along with a central square ridgeline stack. Lean-to extensions are present on the north and west sides. The entrance elevation displays four later buttresses and shows evidence of raised brickwork. Inside, there is a three-bay softwood timber-frame structure with an 'A'-frame roof, featuring inverted knees that are forelock bolted to bridging joists and principal posts.
