Description
The Martello Tower adjacent to the sea wall at Butlins Holiday Village is a structure built around 1808 to 1812. It is constructed of vari-coloured brick made at Grays, Essex, and is now rendered. The tower features a stone parapet and rusticated stone dressings around four windows and a door located at half height. It was built at a cost of approximately £5,000. The garrison for this tower was stationed at Weeley Barracks due to the unhealthy conditions along the coast.
