Description
Shotgate Farm is a house with a front range dating from the 19th century and rear ranges that are from the 17th century or earlier and the 18th century. The building has undergone repairs due to war damage in the 20th century. It features a timber frame with plaster and a grey slate roof on the front range, while the rear ranges have red tiled roofs. There are red brick chimney stacks on both the right and left sides of the front range, as well as one chimney stack for each of the rear ranges. The house is two storeys high, with one storey and attics in parts. The front has a three-window range with 20th-century casements and a central six-panelled door with a light above it, sheltered by a flat canopy. The rear includes a crosswing from the 17th century or earlier and an 18th-century kitchen, both featuring 20th-century casements. Each range has a vertically boarded door. The kitchen retains original vertically boarded doors, a bake oven, a pump, and a stone sink. The pump is encased in timber, with a curved iron handle ending in a ball and a lead spout in the center of a plaque moulded with "S.B. 1787". At the time of the re-survey, there was no access to the first floor.
