Description

No. 96 High Street is a Grade II listed building, originally serving as consulting rooms and formerly as dwellings or a workplace. It dates from the 18th century or earlier. This long, low, single-storey structure features a half-hipped roof facing High Street and follows the line of the outer defences of Ongar Castle. The building is timber-framed and plastered, showcasing panel decoration and some brickwork. It has a red pantile roof and a central glazed door flanked by sidelights, with a flat canopy and brackets above. A red brick chimney stack adds to its character.
