Description
Crossleys Farmhouse is a house dating from around 1600. It has a timber frame and is partially clad in brick, though it is now all covered in plaster. The roof is made of red plain tiles and was added in the 20th century. The house is two storeys high and originally had an L-shaped plan, but there is now a 20th-century gabled extension at the center front and on the north side. It features an original red brick cruciform chimney stack and various 20th-century casement windows. Inside, the high-quality original frame is still visible, with stop-chamfered bridging joists and common joists. The underside of the first floor showcases extensive painted decoration from around 1600, featuring panels with linear motifs on the joists.
