Description
Greensted Hall is a house that has been converted into three dwellings. It likely has a medieval hall core with extensive rebuilding around 1700. It is timber-framed with brick cladding on the front, which is shaped like an H. The roof is covered with red plain tiles and the building has two storeys plus attics. The front features a window arrangement of 2:6:1, consisting of small paned vertical sliding sash windows, along with three gable dormers and a parapet. The windows have segmental brick arches. To the left of the crosswing, there is a sundial dated 1698, and the south front bears the date "1695" associated with Alexander and Mary Cleeve. The central entrance has a pedimented doorcase with a 20th-century small paned glazed door. The east front also features a central pediment. The west front has a window arrangement of 4:1:4 with small paned vertical sliding sashes and a projecting open porch. Inside, there is a central pine panelled drawing room, pine chimney pieces, and other panelling, as well as a fine staircase with twisted balusters and a carved string, all dating from around 1700. The building is topped with three large red brick chimney stacks.
