Description
Dovehouse, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, is located approximately 50 metres south-southwest of Matching Hall. It is built of red brick in Flemish bond with flared blue headers and has a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The structure is square in shape with a pyramidal roof. There is a blocked 20th-century chimney on the north wall, which previously served an ancillary building that has since been demolished. A 20th-century brick buttress is found on the outside of the north wall, matching the chimney on the inside. To the south, there is a lean-to garage that is weatherboarded and has a roof covered with 20th-century Roman tiles. Although the nest boxes are missing, evidence inside the wall shows that the sides were constructed with projecting bricks placed edge upwards, along with ledges made of tiles.
