Description

Brakes Farmhouse is a 16th century house that is timber framed and plastered, with a 19th century grey gault brick front. The building has two storeys and a single storey with attics, topped by a red plain tile roof. Originally designed as a hall house, it features a gabled cross wing that was formerly jettied but is now underbuilt. The facade includes a three-window range of 19th century double hung, vertical sliding sashes and two flat topped dormers. There is also a 19th century porch. Inside, the original roof structure of the cross wing is still visible, along with an original door head.
