Description
The Fox Public House is a 17th-century building that has been extensively altered in the 18th and 20th centuries. It features a timber-framed and plastered structure with a hipped roof covered in red plain tiles. The building has two storeys and a five-window range on the ground floor, which consists of double-hung vertical sliding sashes with glazing bars. Above, there is a three-window range with similar sashes. The eaves are adorned with a modillion cornice, and there is a large chimney stack from the 17th century. Originally, the building had a rectangular plan with three bays and a chimney bay, but later extensions have been added to the south, along with a modern porch to the north. Inside, very little remains on the ground floor apart from an altered chimney stack and one storey post, while 18th-century detailing can be found above.
