Description
The Colchester Club, located at No. 69 Culver Street, is a mid-18th century building constructed of red and blue brick. It stands two storeys high with attics and features two dormers, all topped with tiled roofs. The building has cellars and a front facade that includes a six-window range of double-hung sashes, which have glazing bars except for the ground floor sashes. These windows are set in flush cased frames with flat rubbed brick arches, and the central upper window is oval in shape. A moulded brick band separates the storeys, and there is an eaves cornice present. The entrance is highlighted by a Tuscan doorcase, and there is a rainwater head located at the east end of the front. The facade also displays a date and initials reading "Dl7 LH 43." The Colchester Club is part of a group that includes Nos 69 and 71, All Saints Museum on High Street, and Nos 1, 3, and 7 to 13 (odd) Queen Street.
