Description

This is a range of late 17th century red brick almshouses located on Stock Road. Founded by Richard Twedye in 1574, as indicated by a brass plaque in the Church of All Saints, these almshouses were established for "four poor knights to dwell." The building consists of four tenements, all on one storey, featuring an eight-window range with two-light casements that have lattice leaded lights. The doors are 20th century boarded doors with fillets. The roofs are tiled and include two original chimney stacks. The almshouses underwent restoration in the 20th century. The Church of All Saints, Bellmans Farmhouse, and the Almshouses together form a group.
