Description
This stable, located 36 metres north-west of Navestock Hall, dates back to the medieval period, likely from the early 15th century. Its original purpose is not known. The building is weatherboarded and features a half-hipped roof covered with peg tiles.
Inside, the stable has an aisled layout, with rear shores supporting the arcade posts that pass through the aisle ties. It has a crown post roof and shows no signs of sooting. The northern bay was originally separated from the rest of the stable by a wattle and daub partition truss shaped like a 'spere', which includes a wide central opening on the ground floor. The aisle plate has a halved and bridled scarf joint. There is a loft with a two-light casement window at the northern end.
This stable, along with the granary, forms a group with Navestock Hall.
